VISALIA, CA - The Visalia Rawhide, in conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, announced that RHP Bo Takahashi has been named the Arizona Diamondbacks Minor League Pitcher of the Month for the month of April.
Takahashi went a perfect 3-0 with a 1.73 ERA in 5 starts during April, including a career-best 12 strikeout performance in his season debut on April 6. At the end of the month, Takahashi ranked among the California League leaders in wins (t-3rd), ERA (4th), strikeouts (6th), and WHIP (4th, 1.00). He was named the California League Pitcher of the Week for the third time in his career on April 29 following a six-inning shutout performance with eight strikeouts against Inland Empire.
The winning pitcher of the California League All-Star Game in 2017, Takahashi became the first Brazilian-born player in the D-backs organization when Arizona signed him as a 16-year old undrafted free agent on December 23, 2013. He earned Cal League Pitcher of the Week honors twice in 2017, one of which honored his penultimate start: when he took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against Modesto on August 25.
Rawhide catcher Daulton Varsho was named the Visalia player of the month for April. Former Rawhide utility player Galli Cribbs was named the D-backs Minor League Player of the month.
The D-backs Player Development staff chooses both a player and pitcher once per month that is most deserving of the honors based on nominations from coaches at each affiliate along with input from the Minor League Coordinators.
The Rawhide next return home on Friday, May 18, to kick off the Weekend for the Ladies. The event will include the Mommy/Daughter Date Night on May 18, which includes special ticket packages for moms and daughters, the Girl's Night Out on Saturday, May 19, where fans can enter to win one of a number of grand prizes by visiting all 30 vendor booths, and the Diamond Dig/Belle of the Ballpark on Sunday, May 20.
