Visalia- The Rawhide defeat the Jethawks 7-3 to complete the three-game sweep. Jeff Bain got the win tonight as he pitched 5 innings, giving up six hits and one earned run. That one run came off a solo shot by Ramon Marcelino to take the lead 1-0.
The Rawhide would tie it in the bottom of the third after lead-off double by Anfernee Grier who scored off Camden Duzenack 's sacrifice fly to right field. They would take the lead in the next inning 5-1. Mark Karaviotis reached first base on an error by the third baseman, Sean Bouchard . The starting pitcher for the Jethawks, Will Gannis, walked Renae Martinez and Jake McCarthy to load the bases. Ryan Grotjohn singled to centerfield, scoring Karaviotis and Martinez. McCarthy scored off a throwing error by Matt Hearn . His throw went into the Rawhide dug out, awarding McCarthy to go home and Grotjohn third. The final run of that inning scored when Grotjohn crossed home plate off a Grier single to rightfield.
Visalia scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jose Caballero doubled to lead off the inning and he scored off a Jancarlos Cintron . Karaviotis drove in Cintron and that was the last run of the game score by the Rawhide, making the score 7-1.
West Tunnel came in to shut down Lancaster in the top of the ninth inning. He gave up a two-run home run to Todd Czinege with Marcelino on first. Despite the two-run blast, Tunnel finished the ninth inning and the Rawhide won with a final score of 7-3. That completed the sweep of the Jethawks and extended the winning streak to nine games.
The Rawhide will have its first off day of 2019 tomorrow and then host the Stockton Ports for a four-game series. First pitch is Monday at 6pm.
