VISALIA, CA - For the second straight night the Rawhide offense struggled to get going and, despite a strong start from Emilio Vargas, fell 3-1.

Vargas (L, 6-3) dished 6.1 innings and struck out eight hitters but was on the hook for three runs, two of which earned. Brandon Van Horn gave the Giants a lead with a solo homer in the third and San Jose took advantage of a rare Camden Duzenack error in the fifth to jump out to a 2-0 lead.
Vargas departed after allowing a one-out single to Sandro Fabian in the seventh and Junior Garcia walked him in to put San Jose (39-41/5-5) up 3-0.
Visalia (42-38/5-5) was held quiet by Giants starter Jason Bahr through six innings. Bahr (W, 2-0) held the Rawhide to just three hits while striking out five.
Marcus Wilson provided the spark for the Rawhide offense, putting up three hits that included a pair of doubles. Wilson, who now has six hits over the series, also drove home the only run of the game for Visalia with an RBI double in the ninth.
Frank Rubio (SV, 3) allowed a single run in the ninth inning, but held the line with the tying run at the plate to pick up the save for the Giants.
For the second straight night, the Rawhide were held hitless with runners in scoring position; they're now 0-17 in the series. Wilson has supplied six of the 12 Visalia hits over the first two games of the series.
Vargas still leads the California League with a 1.67 ERA.
The Rawhide will send RHP Connor Grey (5-5, 4.94) to the bump tomorrow against San Jose LHP Sandro Cabrera (6-3, 4.06). First pitch will be at 6 PM and tickets are available on rawhidebaseball.com.
