Harrisburg, PA- The Hartford Yard Goats defeated the Harrisburg Senators by the score of 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at FNB Field in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Dom Nuñez crushed a grand slam home run in the first inning and LHP Jack Wynkoop hurled seven scoreless innings for his third win of the season. It was the final game of a four game weekend series, as the Yard Goats return to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Monday night to begin a seven game homestand and seek a third straight win.
The Yard Goats rallied for five runs with two outs in the first inning off Senators starter Austen Williams and chased him from the game. Ryan McMahon started the rally with an opposite field single followed by a single by Drew Weeks. Josh Fuentes then contributed with an RBI single scoring McMahon and giving Hartford a 1-0 lead. Williams then walked Omar Carrizales, loading the bases for Dom Nunez. Nunez took a 3-2 pitch over the right field fence, connecting on his third home run, lifting Harford to a 5-0 lead.
Yard Goats starting pitcher Jack Wynkoop was very impressive and retired 18 of the first 20 batters faced over the first six innings, including the side in order four times. After hitting a batter to start the seventh and giving up a double, he worked out of a second and third base jam to stand both runners. He pitched seven scoreless innings for the second time over his last three starts.
The Yard Goats added a run in the seventh inning to make it 6-0. Luis Jean and Ashley Graeter had singles and Jean scored on an RBI grounder by Ryan McMahon, who drove in his team leading 21st run of the season.
Harrisburg's only run came in the eighth inning off reliever D.J. Johnson, on an RBI infield single by Zach Collier. Johnson pitched the final two innings of the game.
The Yard Goats start a seven game homestand on Monday night and will play the first of a three games series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays affiliate) at 7:05 PM at Dunkin' Donuts Park.   The broadcast can be heard on AM 1410 WPOP or on iheart radio.
