Final June Homestands Fast Approach

Cowboy Monkey Rodeo Headlines Six Remaining Home Openings This Month
June 14, 2013

Moosic, Pa. - After a road-heavy start to the season, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) are ready for single-series homestands at PNC Field against the Rochester Red Wings (Minnesota Twins) and Norfolk Tides (Baltimore Orioles). The series with Rochester is a home-and-home match-up with the Red Wings beginning Monday before the RailRiders host the Tides starting on Friday, June 21. These will mark the final home games at PNC Field this month, with five dates and six openings among them.

The action begins when Rochester travels to PNC Field on Monday. Due to the rainout on April 11, the RailRiders and Red Wings will play a doubleheader. The first seven-inning contest will get underway at 5:35 p.m. Hot dogs will be just $1 all night long, and fans are invited to bring their best dance moves to the ballpark, as it will be Tribute to Dance Night.

The short series against SWB's International League North foe will conclude on Tuesday night, with a usual game time of 7:05 p.m. It's another two-for-one Tuesday, meaning fans can buy one NEPA Honda Homer Zone lawn ticket and receive another one for free. Gates will open up at 6 p.m.

After a short trip to Rochester, the RailRiders return to PNC Field to host Norfolk on Friday, June 21. The RailRiders will be holding Girl Scout Night, with the scouts having a sleepover on the field after the game. Friday also means Friday Fireworks presented by Jack Williams Tire & Auto. RailRiders staff will be dressed up in their best princess outfits on Storybook Princess Night, and fans are encouraged to participate too. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

Saturday, June 22 offers a unique split doubleheader when Norfolk travels in. The contests will be held as two separate events with each game scheduled for nine innings. The early game comes at 12:05 p.m. The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a free baseball bat, courtesy of Kost Tire & Auto. Gates for that contest will open up at 11 a.m.

The nightcap features will have a bit of a western theme, as the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo will come to PNC Field. Fans will be amazed as monkeys dressed as cowboys herd farm animals while riding dogs like horses on the field. The performance has drawn praise through various outlets, and has been featured nationally on numerous occasions. Gates will open up at 6 p.m. as a pregame band entertains on the plaza, with the first pitch being tossed at 7:05 p.m. The game will also be broadcasted live on MyNetwork TV with John Sadak and Bob Ide on the call.

The RailRiders' June home schedule concludes on Sunday, June 23. It will be a Family FUNday presented by NEPA Honda, with an assortment of fun and games happening in the plaza. Fans can also snag autographs from their favorite RailRiders before the game. After SWB and Norfolk finish up play, kids will be able to run the bases like the pros. First pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m.

With no upper deck at PNC Field anymore, every seat in the ballpark provides the supreme views and intimacy that make minor league baseball so special at incredibly affordable prices.
