Snappers Fall to Bees, 5-1, in 2014 Season Opener

BELOIT, WI - Mike Fish lead the Bees in their first game of the season. He had 3 hits, 2 of them being doubles, while driving in 2 runs while. The Bees upset the Snappers in Beloit on their home opener.

Rick Magnante, making his Beloit managerial debut, and the Snappers fell to 0-1. The Bees win starts their season off on the right foot and puts them at 1-0.

Burlington began the game by immediately slowly chipping away at Beloit starter Bobby Wahl (0-1). The first run occurred after Kody Eaves tripled on a fly ball to BJ Boyd. The next at bat Mark Shannon grounded out to Chih-Fang Pan and Eaves scored.

The Bees then scored 2 more runs in the top of the 3rd inning to make it 3-1. In the bottom of the 3rd Chih-Fang Pan hit a double and drove in the only run of the night for the Snappers, scoring Melvin Mercedes for the first run of the Snappers 2014 season.

The Snappers offense, meanwhile, was being silenced by the Bees pitching. Burlington played 4 pitchers in tonight's game and 3 of them still have an ERA of 0.00. The win for the season opener goes to Burlington's Michael Smith.

That was really all you heard from Beloit's bats. The Bees continued to add to their lead and scored another run in the top of the 7th inning and the final run in the top of the 8th when Ranyelmy Mendoza doubled on a ground ball to BJ Boyd and scored Angel Rosa to make the final score of 5-1.

The second game of this four game series will be played Friday night at 6:30pm in Beloit. The Snappers are going with RHP Lou Trivino (0-0, 0.00 ERA) as their starter, while the Bees will counter with RHP Michael Clevinger (0-0, 0.00 ERA).
