Snappers drop 6th-straight game, 9-7 to Kane County

June 29, 2014

The Beloit Snappers' recent struggles continued Sunday afternoon as they extended their losing streak to six games with a 9-7 loss to Kane County.

Beloit battled for most of the ballgame but a ninth-inning triple proved to be the difference in the contest.

Cael Brockmeyer drove in the two winning runs as he hit for the cycle with an RBI-triple (4-for-5, 1 HR, 1 3B, 1 2B, 1 1B, 4 RBI's).

Beloit's Matt Chapman recorded his first professional home run as he hit a solo shot to left field in the fifth inning. Chapman finished the game 2-for-5, his first two hits at Pohlman Field.

Both starting pitchers, Jen-Ho Tseng and Matt Stalcup, gave up six earned runs and were replaced in the fourth inning. Corbin Hoffner picked up the win for Kane County while Tyler Vail recorded the loss for the Snappers.

Kane County started the scoring in the second inning as David Bote drove in Jacob Rogers on a double to center field. Singles from Trey Martin and Jacob Hanneman would tack on two additional runs for the Cougars.

The Snappers responded and tied the game in the bottom of the frame as Phil Pohl hit a 3-run home run to centerfield to score Luis Baez and B.A. Vollmuth.

The second home run of the day came in the third inning as Hannemann hit a 2-run home run to give Kane County a 5-3 lead. The Cougars added an additional run in the top of the fourth inning, a Hanneman solo shot home run, before the Snappers would get on the board again.

Beloit cut the deficit in the bottom of the fourth as three consecutive doubles from Tyler Marincov, Vollmuth, and Pohl drove in two runs. Chapman's home run would tie the game in the fifth inning.

Both teams scored runs in the eighth inning but the Snappers weren't able to overcome Kane County's two runs in the top of the ninth inning.

The Snappers and Cougars conclude their four-game series Monday night at 7:00 p.m. at Pohlman Field.
