Former Snappers Added to Major League 40-Man Rosters

BELOIT, Wisc.- The Oakland A's selected infielder Renato Nuñez from Single-A Stockton to be on the 40-Man roster, the club announced today. Also, the Minnesota Twins announced that both Eddie Rosario and Miguel Sano, 2012 Snappers, were added to their 40-Man roster as well.

Nuñez was named to the California League Postseason All-Star Team after batting .279 with 29 home runs and 96 RBI in 124 games at Single-A Stockton last year. He tied for fourth in the Cal League in home runs and RBI. The 20-year-old right-handed hitter ranked second in the A's farm system in home runs, RBI and extra base hits (60), third in slugging (.517) and fourth in hits (142).

Nuñez was signed by the A's as a non-drafted free agent July 2, 2010 at the age of 16. The native of Venezuela is a .275 career hitter with 57 home runs and 251 RBI in 347 games over four professional seasons. He has played exclusively third base on defense. Nuñez is currently playing for Aragua in the Venezuelan Winter League and is batting .281 with four home runs and 22 RBI in 28 games.

While playing for Beloit in 2013, Nuñez batted .258 with 19 homers, 27 doubles, and 85 RBI.

Rosario, the number 10 prospect for the Minnesota Twins, played 79 games at AA for the New Britain Rock Cats in 2014, hitting 8 homeruns and driving in 36 runs and batting .237. With the Snappers in 2012, he batted .296 while hitting 12 homers, 32 doubles, and driving in 70 runs.

Miguel Sano, the Minnesota Twins number two prospect, sat out all of the 2014 season after having to undergo Tommy John surgery. In 2012, with the Snappers, Sano batted .258 with 28 homeruns and 100 RBI.

The Beloit Snappers open up the 2015 season on the road on Thursday, April 9th against the Clinton Lumberkings. The home opener at Pohlman Field will be Wednesday, April 15th against the Quad Cities River Bandits.
