Kyle Snyder Named New Bulls Pitching Coach

Former UNC Standout Joins Triple-A Staff, Replacing Neil Allen
December 10, 2014

The Durham Bulls, in conjunction with the Tampa Bay Rays, have announced Kyle Snyder has been hired as Pitching Coach for the Triple-A franchise. Snyder joins the Bulls staff after the departure of Neil Allen, who was recently named the new Pitching Coach of the Minnesota Twins.

Entering his fourth season with the Rays organization, the 37-year-old Snyder was a Minor League pitching coordinator in 2014 after spending two seasons as a pitching coach at Class A Bowling Green (2013) and Short Season Class A Hudson Valley (2012). A former first-round draft pick (seventh overall, 1999) of the Kansas City Royals, the 6'8" right-hander had a five year Major League playing career that saw him appear in 93 games, including 46 relief appearances with the 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox.

Snyder spent three seasons in Chapel Hill pitching for the University of North Carolina after originally being selected by the Rays in the 1996 June Draft but opting not to sign.

The remainder of the Bulls coaching staff will be announced at a later date.
