June 12, 2016

ALLENTOWN, PA - The Durham Bulls salvaged the final game of a three-game set Sunday afternoon, beating the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 10-3 at Coca-Cola Park.

After managing just one run in the first two games of the series, the Durham (29-36) offense got out to a fast start by putting up a four-spot in the first inning behind JP Arencibia's grand slam. After Lehigh Valley got a run in the second, the Bulls' offense went back to work in the fourth frame when Johnny Field ripped an RBI double and Daniel Robertson drove in two with a single.

The IronPigs (34-29) closed the gap to 7-3 by scoring two runs in the fifth, but Jake Goebbert cracked a three-run dinger in the ninth inning to extend the Bulls' lead to 10-3.

Right-hander Austin Pruitt (5-4) picked up the victory for Durham, tossing a season-high 7 1/3 innings and allowing three runs, while Dylan Floro notched the final five outs. James Russell (1-2) took the loss for the 'Pigs, surrendering seven runs on nine hits across 3 1/3 frames.

Arencibia's four RBI and two hits paced the Bulls' offense, which scored double-digit runs for the first time in 2016. Robertson finished 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Jake Hager and Cameron Seitzer each contributed two hits out of the eighth and ninth spots in the order, respectively.

Durham's nine-game road trip continues Monday when they open a three-game set against the Buffalo Bisons. LHP Adam Wilk (1-6, 3.33) will make the start for Durham against LHP Scott Diamond (4-6, 3.16) for the Bisons. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. at Coca-Cola Field.
