Bulls Team Ambassador Bill Law Passes Away

Durham Bulls beloved Team Ambassador Bill Law died early Tuesday morning at the age of 88.

Bill, as he was affectionately known throughout the Bulls' community, was an integral part of the organization since the early 1990s. The New England native took an active role with the team prior to its move to Durham Bulls Athletic Park in 1995, and served as the stadium's Public Address announcer for over a decade. After moving on from behind the microphone, Bill went on to represent the Bulls across the state of North Carolina at numerous speaking engagements over the following years. Bill won the Spirit of the International League award in 2013, which recognizes individuals who are dedicated to helping make sure fans have the most enjoyable experience as possible when visiting league ballparks.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill Law," Bulls General Manager Mike Birling said. "He was an important part of our organization in so many ways, and had a far-reaching impact on our fans, front office, team and the Triangle community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, which was the only thing he loved more than Bulls baseball."

In addition to his time with the Bulls, Bill was an active member of the North Carolina community for over half a century. He served as Raleigh City councilman, was a former banker and radio and television personality, while also serving as a lead actor for almost 10 years for the Raleigh Little Theatre.

"Bill was one-of-a-kind," Capitol Broadcasting Company President and CEO Jim Goodmon said. "When he entered the park everybody smiled, and he combined his skills and passion for baseball to help turn the Bulls into the family destination it is today. The DBAP will not be the same without Bill's visits, but his presence will never leave the stadium."
