Columbus, Ohio - The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) dropped their road trip opener at Columbus against the Clippers (Cleveland Indians) on Tuesday night, 6-3. The RailRiders fell to 8-12 on the road while the Clippers improved to 5-13 at home.
A five-run first carried the hosts to victory. All nine Clippers came to the plate in the gaudy frame. Chris Colabello's bases-loaded ground-rule double proved the biggest blow.
SWB rallied on Clint Frazier 's two-run homer to left-center in the fourth. Tyler Wade doubled home a score in the fifth.
In the visiting sixth, Gleyber Torres got his first Triple-A hit. Making his debut at the level, he singled to right field. A half inning later, former SWB outfielder Austin Jackson grounded a ball to third base that was errantly misplayed by Torres, allowing Colabello to score from third.
Starter Luis Cessa (2-4) took the loss for SWB. Columbus starter Adam Plutko (2-6) earned the win and Joe Colòn pitched around a pair of ninth-inning walks to secure his fourth save.
The RailRiders return home on Tuesday, May 30 to host the Clippers at 6:35 p.m. The $2 Tuesday sports $2 lawn tickets and $2 tallboys, presented by La Tolteca. For tickets or more information, please call 570-969-BALL (2255) or visit swbrailriders.com.
