Drew Rucinski Named All-Star

Travs Righty Spun TL's Best Single-Game Performance
June 12, 2014

Little Rock - The Texas League announced that Travs pitcher Drew Rucinski was named an All-Star replacement and will take part in the 2014 Texas League All-Star Game at Dickey-Stephens Park on June 24.

Rucinski carries a 4-4 record and 2.73 ERA, sixth-lowest in the Texas League heading into a Thursday night start against the Tulsa Drillers near his hometown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The 25-year old Rucinski comes off one of the best pitching performances in Minor League Baseball this season, last Saturday's 3-0 gem against Northwest Arkansas. Rucinski threw the only nine-inning, complete-game shutout in the Texas League this season allowing five hits on just 98 pitches without a walk and six strikeouts. He earned a Texas League Pitcher of the Week award for the performance.

Rucinski signed with the Los Angeles Angels last August after pitching for the Rockford Aviators of the Frontier League for nearly two full seasons. Undrafted out of Ohio State University, he spent most of the 2011 season in the Cleveland Indians organization then pitched for Rockford in 2012-2013.

Rucinski takes the spot on the North Division All-Star Team vacated by former Travs pitcher Cam Bedrosian, who was promoted to the Major Leagues last week.
