ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists put up a fight in an 11-inning loss to the Augusta GreenJackets. Augusta scored twice in the top of the 11th and Asheville was held to one run with the tying runner left at second base. The Tourists ended up falling by one, 7-6. This is Asheville's third straight loss by a single run.
The Tourists went into the top of sixth leading 4-0 and had held the GreenJackets to zero runs until Francisco Tostado hit a two-out RBI single. Later, Dalton Combs delivered a grand slam that gave Augusta a 5-4 lead. Asheville had only allowed two hits before the two-out, sixth inning rally.

The Tourists started off right with one run in the second inning thanks to an RBI double by John Cresto , followed by two runs in the third. The first third-inning run came on a 361-foot Home Run by Will Golsan ; his 5th Home Run of the season. The second run was scored by Terrin Vavra , thanks to an RBI groundout by Coco Montes . Golsan later scored on a passed ball in the 7th inning to tie up the game after the GreenJackets had jumped in front.
The game went into extra innings with the score tied 5-5. Both teams were held scoreless in the tenth. Asheville had the bases loaded with one out in their half of the tenth inning but Augusta's coaching strategy of five infielders forced an inning-ending double play. The GreenJackets' two runs in the top of the 11th were enough to hold on.
This is the second time this season that the Tourists went into extra innings and the first time they have played 11 frames. Wednesday the Tourists face the GreenJackets for the final game in this series with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch at McCormick Field.
