Asheville Matches a Season-High with 14 Runs

ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists made a statement on Saturday night with a 14-3 victory over the visiting Augusta GreenJackets. The series opener was one-sided from the start and Asheville excelled throughout the game.The Tourists pounded out a season-high 11 extra-base hits; nine of them doubles. Asheville finished with 17 hits

ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists made a statement on Saturday night with a 14-3 victory over the visiting Augusta GreenJackets. The series opener was one-sided from the start and Asheville excelled throughout the game.
The Tourists pounded out a season-high 11 extra-base hits; nine of them doubles. Asheville finished with 17 hits and hit into several loud outs in the process. Casey Golden led the way with a 4-for-5 performance that included three two-baggers. Todd Czinege finished a triple shy of the cycle. Sean Bouchard , Taylor Snyder , and Matt Hearn each added two hits to the mix.

Garrett Schilling earned his seventh win of the season with 5.2 innings pitched and only one run allowed. Schilling struck out seven while scattering five hits. Nate Harris and Derrik Watson tossed the final 3.1 innings.
Asheville scored two in the first on three consecutive doubles. The Tourists added six more runs in the second that included a three-run blast by Czinege. Asheville then scored five in the bottom of the sixth by batting around.
All nine players in the Tourists lineup recorded at least one hit. The 14 runs scored matches a season-high and the 17 hits fell one short of tying the 2018 single-game high. Augusta used four pitchers on the night. Their starter, Norwith Gudino, lasted only 1.1 frames.
Game two of the current four-game series is scheduled for 2:05pm on Sunday afternoon.
