B-Mets To Welcome Gilchrist Into Baseball Shrine
BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Mets are pleased to announce that former Triplets broadcaster, Ken Gilchrist, will be inducted into Binghamton's Baseball Shrine in an on-field ceremony prior to their 7:05 PM tilt against the Akron RubberDucks on Saturday, August 23rd.
Gilchrist, a Southern Tier native, started broadcasting for the Triplets following his graduation from Syracuse University in 1955. During his more than ten-year stint on the airwaves with the club, he covered greats including Clete Boyer, Lee Thomas, Joe Pepitone, Al Downing, Bert Campaneris, Tony La Russa, Ted Kubiak and current B-Mets official scorer Steve Kraly.
Created in 1993, Binghamton's Baseball Shrine honors all the individuals who contributed to America's Pastime in the Southern Tier. The elite club boasts 62 members with additional worthy candidates inducted annually. See below for a full list of all the inductees.
Tickets are still available for Binghamton's final homestand of the regular season as they welcome the Akron RubberDucks for a four-game set starting Friday, August 22. Visit www.bmets.com or call 723-METS to purchase tickets.
