Ponies Snap Skid, End First Half in Style
Manchester, NH - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies snapped a four-game skid Tuesday night with a 6-3 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The Ponies offense broke out in a big way and David Peterson (3-2) went a season-long seven innings to get the win. The Ponies finish the first half of the season 34-29.
Both David Thompson and Andres Gimenez finished with three hits. Thompson was also hit by a pitch twice and reached base in all five of his plate appearances, scoring two runs and stealing a base. Patrick Mazeika finished with three RBI and also threw two runners out trying to steal. Will Toffey hit a two-run homer in the fifth off the foul pole in left, his third of the year. The Ponies scored two in the third, three in the fifth, and were 3-3 on stolen bases attempts in the game.
Peterson allowed nine hits over seven with no walks and six strikeouts on 89 pitches, 64 of them strikes. It's Peterson's first win since May 21 after three straight no-decisions. The lefty has not lost a game since April 29 and the Ponies are now 9-3 in his starts. Fisher Cats starter Hector Perez (4-3) suffered his first loss of the year against the Ponies in his fourth start of the year against them.

POSTGAME NOTES: Both teams finished with 12 hits…It was the most runs scored by the Rumble Ponies since they last won last Tuesday….Binghamton snaps a four-game losing streak against New Hampshire, as they are now 4-6 against them on the year…the Ponies finish the first half with an Eastern League best 24-12 road mark.
