Banks (W, 3-7) has allowed just two earned runs across 17.1 innings of work in three appearances against the Jumbo Shrimp this season.
Banks' impressive outing fueled a steady day the plate, as well. Laz Rivera doubled twice and Luis González recorded four hits to pace the offense. Gonzalez also scored a pair of runs and stole one base in the win.
Gavin Sheets' RBI-single to center put the Barons ahead in the third and strung together five runs on six hits in the fifth to pull away. Luis Basabe, Blake Rutherford, Damek Tomscha and Ti'Quan Forbes all delivered run-scoring hits in the frame against Jumbo Shrimp left-hander Trevor Rogers and right-handed reliever Chad Smith.
Rogers (L, 1-2) suffered the loss after the former first-round selection surrendered six runs (all earned) on nine hits in 4.1 innings of work.
Miami Marlins right-hander Jose Ureña logged 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Jacksonville in his second rehab appearance with the Jumbo Shrimp.
Barons right-hander Danny Dopico struck out three across the final two innings to lock down the victory. He allowed just one hit and secured Birmingham's ninth shutout of the season.
The Barons will hit the road to begin a five-game set against the Tennessee Smokies on Thursday as Birmingham sends right-hander Lincoln Henzman (4-6, 4.78) to the mound against Tennessee right-hander Chih-Wei Hu (0-0, 0.00).
