Birmingham’s season-best five game win streak was snapped in walk off fashion due to a 6-5 loss in Mississippi.

The Braves scored the first three runs of the game. In the first inning, Jalen Miller grounded a single into left field to bring in Justin Dean. The left fielder Dedelow and the shortstop Rodriguez tag-teamed for a relay to get CJ Alexander at third base to limit the damage. Hendrik Clementina hit a two-run blast in the second inning.

But the Barons scored the next three runs. One came in the third with a fielder’s choice off the bat of D.J. Burt. JJ Muno came around to score. Birmingham tied the game one inning later with Craig Dedelow’s first triple of the season to plate Tyler Neslony. Dedelow represented the tying run when Raudy Read smacked a double one batter later.

Mississippi regained the lead at 4-3 after Justin Dean’s RBI single in the fourth inning.

In the top of the fifth inning, Tyler Neslony roped his league-leading 21st double of the season to generate another run and tie the game. That did not last long. Yariel Gonzalez’s seventh homer of the season gave Mississippi a 5-4 lead at the end of the fifth inning.

The third tie of the game occurred when Lenyn Sosa hit a sacrifice fly to score D.J. Burt.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, with the bases loaded, Riley Delgado singled to bring in the winning run.

Jason Bilous (3-5, 6.18) gets the start for the Barons tomorrow. The Braves send out Freddy Zarnok (1-2, 5.62) with a 6:05 p.m. CT first pitch.
