The Birmingham Barons took game one of the 2021 season defeating Biloxi 6-1 at Regions Field Wednesday afternoon. The Barons scored three runs in the fourth inning to break open the close game.

In the second inning, first baseman Jameson Fisher homered to right center for the first run of the 2021 season. The Barons took an early 1-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, the Barons scored three big runs to widen the close game. Carlos Perez tripled to center scoring Micker Adolfo from first base. Then third baseman Ti’Quan Forbes hits the big two-run home run to extend the 4-0 lead for the Barons.

Blake Battenfield (1-0, 0.00) scattered six hits in five innings for his first win of the season. Battenfield struck out three and gave up no walks.

Biloxi scored a run in the sixth inning and that was all their scoring in the game. The Barons added two runs in the sixth inning on a passed ball scoring Jameson Fisher. Ian Dawkins grounded out in a double play but brought home Forbes with the run.

Bennett Sousa pitched the sixth inning in relief giving up the one run on two hits with one strikeout. Will Kincanon closed out the game with his perfect one inning of relief.

With the win, the Barons go to 1-0 on the season and have a five game homestand with Biloxi ending on Sunday afternoon.
