Chicago Cubs: Jose Quintana
Starting pitcher Jose Quintana made nine starts with the Barons during the 2012 season going 1-3 with a 2.77 ERA prior to his promotion directly to the Chicago White Sox. He was 4-8 with a 4.49 ERA in 18 starts with the White Sox this season. On July 13th the White Sox traded Quintana to the Chicago Cubs for prospects
Cleveland Indians: Terry Francona and Mike Barnett
Terry Francona was manager of the Birmingham Barons for three seasons from 1993 through 1995 during which he compiled a record of 223-202. He also led the Barons to the 1993 Southern League Championship and managed the Barons during the historic 1994 season where basketball legend Michael Jordan suited up for Birmingham. Francona is a two-time American League Manager of the Year and led the Boston Red Sox to World Series titles in 2004 and 2007. He led the Indians to the World Series last year where they were ultimately defeated by the Chicago Cubs in seven games. The Indians set an American League record this year with a 22-game winning streak which is second all-time to the New York Giants streak of 26.
Mike Barnett served on Terry Francona's staff as hitting coach with the Barons from 1993-1995. He is currently the video coach for the Cleveland Indians.
