MOBILE, Ala. -  With the game tied at two in the eighth, Barons' 3B Ronald Bueno stepped in for his first right-handed at bat in Birmingham this season. The switch hitter then blasted a two-run home run deep over the left field fence to break the tie and lead the Barons to an eventual 6-2 victory over the BayBears on Saturday night.
"I wasn't looking to hit a home run," Bueno said of his eighth inning at bat. "I was looking to make hard contact, looking for a double or something hard hit and I was lucky to just get the ball good enough."

After two scoreless innings on both sides to begin the game, Birmingham started the scoring with single runs in the third and fourth. Eddy Alvarez clubbed a solo shot to left field to stake the Barons to a 1-0 lead in the third and Hunter Jones came through with a run scoring double in the fourth to extend the lead to two.
The two runs early were scored in support of starter Spencer Adams, who turned in his longest outing of the season. Adams pitched his way around one run in each of the fourth and sixth innings to keep the Barons in the game, eventually picking up his third win of the year. Adams worked eight innings, giving up five hits, two earned runs, no walks and six strikeouts.
"I threw the ball down in the zone tonight," said Adams, who's eight inning start is the longest from a Barons' starter this season. "A couple starts before this I was up in the zone a lot, not getting ahead and going deep into counts and that was what was shortening my outings. I was telling myself to get ahead, because that determines how your game is going to go."
With the BayBears tying the game at two on a fourth inning solo home run from Zach Gibbons and a sixth inning RBI groundout by Forrestt Allday, the stage was set for the big Barons' four-run eighth inning. Brett Austin walked to lead off the inning and put the go-ahead run on base and then Bueno stepped to the plate and his heroics took over.
Following Bueno's shot that gave the Barons a 4-2 lead, Cameron Seitzer provided two more insurance runs with his second home run of the series, and third in the past five days.
Seitzer, talking about his recent hot streak said, "I've been trying not to do too much and that starts in BP, with a low line drive approach. That helps gives the ball more backspin and that translates directly to the game."
Connor Lillis-White surrendered Bueno's home run in the eighth and took his first loss of the season out of the BayBears bullpen, while Jace Fry surrendered a Zach Welz RBI single in the ninth, but got the final three outs to lock up the 6-3 victory.
It's the final game of the five game series in Mobile tomorrow afternoon, with first pitch set for 2:05 p.m. CT. RHP Thaddius Lowry gets the ball for Birmingham, while his counterpart will be fellow righty Jake Jewell for the BayBears. Curt Bloom will bring you all the action, starting with the Coca-Cola pregame show at 1:55 p.m. CT. The game can be heard on the iHeart Radio app and 105.5 WERC-FM.
