Barons Get Strong Pitching Performances Led by Ky Bush

Starting pitcher LHP Ky Bush (3-2, 2.09) goes six strong innings as the Birmingham Barons defeat the Chattanooga Lookouts 7-1 at Regions Field on Friday night. With the win, the Barons go to 15-3 at home this season and have won three in a row against the Lookouts.

Chattanooga scored first in the first inning when Austin Hendrick's RBI single scored Tyler Callihan, giving the Lookouts a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second inning, Jason Matthews's RBI single scored Tim Elko, who tripled to right field. Terrell Tatum's RBI double-scored Jason Matthews, and the Barons took a 2-1 lead. Edgar Quero double-cleared the bases, scoring Tatum, Jacob Burke, and Brooks Baldwin, and the Barons took a 5-1 lead. Wilfred Veras doubled home Quero, and the Barons led 6-1.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, designated hitter Michael Turner had a home run to right field, and the Barons led 7-1. Tatum had two hits and an RBI, and Elko had two hits. Burke had two stolen bases and has ten on the season.

Bush gave up only four hits, one earned run, and two walks with six strikeouts in the win. Jake Palisch, Josimar Cousin, and Eric Adler gave up only one hit in three innings. With the win, the Barons improve to 23-13 on the season.
