Edgar Quero hit two home runs to lead the Birmingham Barons to a 6-2 win over the Rocket City Trash Pandas at Toyota Field on Friday night. Starting pitcher Drew Thorpe (2-0, 0.82) pitched six strong innings, giving up only four hits, one earned run, and one walk with seven strikeouts.

Birmingham (4-2) scored first in the game on a Brooks Baldwin RBI single, scoring Terrell Tatum in the top of the third inning. Two batters later, Quero hits his first home run of the game, scoring Wilfred Veras, and the Barons take a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Rocket City (3-3) scored on a Tucker Flint RBI single, scoring Kyren Paris. The Barons responded in the top of the fifth on a Quero two-run home run, scoring Baldwin. With the home run, the Barons took a 5-1 lead.

In the top of the seventh inning, Quero hit a sacrifice fly to center field, and Jason Matthews scored on the play. With the run, the Barons led 6-1. The Trash Pandas scored in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Eric Wagaman scored on a wild pitch. Barons still led 6-2.

In relief, Adisyn Coffey pitched two innings and gave up one hit and one earned run with three strikeouts, while Gil Luna closed the game out in the ninth, giving up only one hit and two walks with two strikeouts.

Quero had a massive night at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two home runs, and five RBIs in the Barons' win. Baldwin added two hits, a walk, one run scored, and one RBI. Tatum stole his third stolen base of the season.
