Game 62 - Boise Falls In Extra-Innings as Eugene Wins Series

The Boise Hawks (29-33, 8-16) fell to the Eugene Emeralds (26-36, 12-12) by a final score of 5-4 in 10 innings. The Hawks have now lost the last seven series they have played in.
 
Eugene scored on the first batter of the game. D.J. Artis hit a leadoff home run against Hawks starter Jeffri Ocando and quickly the Emeralds had a 1-0 lead.
 
The Emeralds scored again in the 2nd inning. It was a double for Jonathan Sierra to leadoff the inning. Later in the frame, Levi Jordan slapped an RBI-single into left field and the Emeralds had a 2-0 advantage.
 
After Ocando allowed two runs through the first two innings, he settled down to go five innings allowing just two.
 
Boise scored their first runs of the game in the 6th inning. With the bases loaded, it was infield hits for Aubrey McCarty and Kennard McDowell which scored two runs and the Hawks were able to tie the game at two.
 
In the home-half of the 6th inning, Eugene added two more runs. Mike Nikorak came into the game and in just his 4th outing since returning from Tommy John surgery he walked all five batters he faced and allowed two runs. The Emeralds took a 4-2 lead.
 
In the 7th inning it was an RBI-single for Cade Harris, and the in the 8th inning, Cole Anderson did the same thing to tie the game at four. Harris finishes the night 3-4 with a run-scored, a RBI, and a walk.
 
With the game tied at four, neither team could score a run as both teams got a runner to third-base in the 9th inning. After the Hawks couldn't scratch out a run in the 10th inning, Eugene came back in the bottom of the 10th with Artis starting on second-base, and got a groundout from Grant Fennell to move the runner to third-base.
 
Andy Weber singled into left field and won the game for Eugene in the 10th, as they get a 5-4 win.
 
The Hawks will continue their annual 11-game road trip and play against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes tomorrow in Salem, Oregon. First pitch will be at 7:35 p.m. MT on 101.5 KOOL-FM. The Hawks will return home on Wednesday, August 29th to take on the Hillsboro Hops.
