PASCO, WA - The relinquishment of a nine-game losing streak was secured at Gesa Stadium as the Boise Hawks (Short Season A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) defeated the Tri-City Dust Devils (Short Season A affiliate of the San Diego Padres) 8-2.
The Hawks struck first in the start of the ballgame with two runners on base. Trey Jacobs relinquished a fastball down to right field in the corner and Joe Aeilts scored to make it 1-0.
Tri-City tied it up after an RBI-single Kelven Melean in the bottom of the first that made it 1-1.
Boise had a big inning in the third though with three runs coming across off of two hits and an error on Tri-City. Tyler Plantier collected an RBI-single to jump Boise ahead 2-1 and then Yorvis Torrealba delivered a sacrifice fly in the next at-bat to push Boise ahead by two. Later, Plantier advanced home off a throwing error on the Dust Devils catcher that made it 4-1 after the third inning.
Boise tacked on another run in the sixth inning when Vladimir Dilone scored off a wild pitch after advancing to third base the same way. That gave Boise a 5-2 advantage.
The Hawks once again had a big inning in the seventh inning where three runs came across for them again. RBIs came from Torrealba, Robert Metz and also Torrealba scored on a wild pitch to make it 8-2 in favor of Boise.

Miguel Ausua closed it fantastically striking out five of the eight batters he faced in the eighth and ninth innings.
On Sunday, the Hawks will face off against Tri-City for the third game of the four-game series. First pitch set for 7:15 p.m. PT with Breiling Eusebio projected to start for Boise.
