The Boise Hawks (34-40, 13-23) beat the Eugene Emeralds (30-44, 16-20) by a final score of 6-4 on Saturday evening. The Hawks got a huge hit from Trey Jacobs in the 8th inning to break the tie.

After three scoreless innings for Boise starter Miguel Ausua, the Eugene Emeralds broke the bats out in the 4th inning. After a leadoff double for Nelson Velazquez, it was an RBI single for Luke Reynolds to make it 1-0 Eugene.

Immediately after, Levi Jordan hit his first home run of the season for Eugene, a two-run shot to make it 3-0 Emeralds. Ausua finishes his night going five innings allowing three runs and striking-out four.

After Eugene starter Riley Thompson went four-innings without allowing a hit, Boise bats tied the game up in the 4th. With Trey Jacobs and Hidekel Gonzalez on base, LeeMarcus Boyd smacked a two-RBI double to make it just a 3-2 lead for the Emeralds.

Later in the inning, L.J. Hatch drove Boyd in on a double to tie the game up at three. The Hawks got shutout baseball in the 6th through 8th innings as Mike Nikorak did not allow a run in the 6th, and Keinter Olivares did not allow a run in the 7th and 8th innings.

Boise got the big swing of the bat from Trey Jacobs in the 8th. With the bases load, Jacobs lined a baseball into the left-centerfield gap and Fernando Kelli, Eugene's centerfielder, dove but could not make a play as Jacobs cleared the bases to take a 6-3 lead.

Eugene scored a run in the 9th inning off of Jefry Valdez but he was able to pick-up his 4th save of the season and the Hawks got a 6-4 victory. Keinter Olivares ends up the winning pitcher for Boise as he goes to 2-4 on the year.

The Hawks will return tomorrow to take on the Eugene Emeralds at 7:15 p.m. M.T. It will be a Postgame Fireworks Show presented by the Idaho Transportation Department. It will also be Dog Day Sunday. You can get tickets at BoiseHawks.com or call 208-322-5000.
