BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods (22-13) came from behind to defeat the Cedar Rapids Kernels (15-15) 4-1 in the series finale Saturday night.

The Kernels jumped out early in the fourth when SS Royce Lewis doubled and later scored on an RBI single from LF Shane Carrier . The run would be the Kernels only of the night.

The Hot Rods tied it in the bottom of the fifth when the first three batters reached loading the bases. With one out in the inning, 2B Vidal Brujan was hit in the left hand and forced in the tying run.

The score remained tied until the eighth inning.

The Hot Rods sent seven batters to the plate in the inning, highlighted by C Zac Law delivering an RBI double to score SS Taylor Walls. A batter later, DH Ronaldo Hernandez lifted a fly ball to right for the out, but was deep enough to score 3B Zach Rutherford. The scoring was not finished however as LF Moises Gomez hit a double into the gap scoring Law, giving the Hot Rods a 4-1 lead.

That turned out to be the final score as RHP Tyler Zombro (4-0) pitched the final three innings, getting the victory.

Starter LHP Josh Fleming turned in a quality start, but received a no-decision. Fleming only allowed four hits, an earned run, while he walked one, and struck out five.

The Hot Rods will be off tomorrow for the third league-wide off day of the season. They will be in action again on Monday at Great Lakes to begin a seven-game road trip. Starters have yet to be announced for the opener of the series.
