MIDLAND, MI - The Bowling Green Hot Rods (22-14) dropped a tough extra innings game to the Great Lakes Loons (11-23) 6-5 tonight. The Loons tied it in the ninth with two outs and two strikes, and won it in extras on a wild pitch.
The Hot Rods got things rolling early, as they scored twice in the top of the first inning. SS
The Loons took the lead in the bottom of the inning. They sent eight batters to the plate in the inning, and took advantage of a trio of Hot Rods errors. LF
The Hot Rods retook the lead with a three run fourth. Aldo CF
The Loons got a run back in the bottom of the inning, making it a 5-4 game.
Both teams were largely held at bay until the ninth. With two outs and two strikes, Heredia sent a line drive home run over the wall in left, tying the game at 5-5.
The Hot Rods had runners on second and third in the 10th, but were unable to score. In the bottom of the inning, with runners on first and third and two outs, a wild pitch allowed the winning run to score, and the Loons walked off with a 6-5 victory.
