BELOIT, WI - The Bowling Green Hot Rods were defeated in extra innings tonight by a score of 4-3, losing the series to the Beloit Snappers. The Hot Rods had three hits in the contest, and just two base runners after the fourth inning.
Bowling Green scored in the first inning for the second consecutive night. With the bases loaded and two outs, DH Trey Hair hit a ball back up the middle that was misplayed by Snappers SS Nick Allen , and it scored two runs, making it 2-0 Hot Rods.
Beloit battled back over the next two innings, eventually tying the game in the bottom of the second on an RBI fielder's choice.
In the fourth, the Hot Rods re-took the lead when 3B Zach Rutherford doubled and then scored on a CF Carl Chester RBI single. It gave the visitors a 3-2 lead.
Beloit tied it again in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI double to left field from LF Jack Meggs , and neither team threatened in the eighth or ninth innings.
In the 10th, the Hot Rods were unable to advance their runner off of second. That proved costly, as the Snappers came away with a walk off single to score the winning run, making it a 4-3 final score.
LHP Resly Linares got the start for the Hot Rods. He threw six innings, allowing three hits and two runs (one earned), striking out six.
Bowling Green heads north to Appleton, Wisconsin tomorrow to take on the Timber Rattlers. First pitch is set for 6:35pm Central, and neither team has announced a starter.
