Hot Rods Toss Second Shutout of the Series in 3-0 Win

Wappingers Falls, New York – The Bowling Green Hot Rods (12-7) hurled their second shutout of the series behind a career-high 6.0 innings from Roel Garcia III, taking down the Hudson Valley Renegades (11-8) by a score of 3-0 at Heritage Financial Park on Saturday in Wappingers Falls, New York.

Wappingers Falls, New York – The Bowling Green Hot Rods (12-7) hurled their second shutout of the series behind a career-high 6.0 innings from Roel Garcia III, taking down the Hudson Valley Renegades (11-8) by a score of 3-0 at Heritage Financial Park on Saturday in Wappingers Falls, New York.

The lone scoring inning came in the top of the fifth against Renegades starter Kyle Carr. Ryan Spikes roped a one-out triple to left. Kinney doubled down to right, scoring Spikes, giving the Hot Rods a 1-0 lead.

Xavier Isaac continued the inning with a base hit to left, plating Kinney, extending the lead, 2-0. On the play, Isaac moved up to third on a throwing error by Jace Avina. Hudson Valley made a pitching change, giving the ball to reliever Leonardo Pestana, and balked in Isaac from third to make it a 3-0 lead. Hot Rods relievers Drew Sommers and Jonny Cuevas combined for 3.0 scoreless frames from the bullpen, locking down a 3-0 win for Bowling Green.

Garcia III (1-0) picked up his first win of the season, spinning 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out three. Carr (0-1) was given his first loss of the year while working through 4.2 innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Cuevas (1) earned his first save of the campaign over 1.0 hitless inning with one walk and one strikeout.

The Hot Rods and Renegades play the finale of a six-game series Sunday with a 12:05 CT first pitch. Bowling Green calls on RHP Trevor Martin (2-0, 2.78) and will go against Hudson Valley LHP Cam Schlittler (2-0, 0.60).
