Bowling Green, Kentucky – Brayden Taylor launched a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Bowling Green Hot Rods (9-6) to a 7-4 win over the Winston-Salem Dash (5-10) on Sunday at Bowling Green Ballpark.

The Hot Rods began the scoring in the bottom of the first against Dash starter Riley Gowens. Chandler Simpson reached on an error by Dash shortstop Jacob Gonzalez and scored on a double by Cooper Kinney, putting the Hot Rods up 1-0.

Winston-Salem answered back off Bowling Green starter Roel Garcia in the top of the fourth. Samuel Zavala led-off with a single, moved up to second on a walk, and scored on an RBI single by Bryce Willits. In the top of the fifth, the Dash took a 2-1 lead thanks to an RBI double by Zavala.

In the top of the sixth, the Dash extended the lead against Hot rods reliever Jake Christianson. Shawn Goosenberg reached on an error by Hunter Haas and was plated on a two-run homer from Wes Kath, moving the score, 4-1.

Bowling Green scored again in the bottom of the seventh off Winston-Salem reliever Ernesto Jaquez. Kinney singled, while Colton Ledbetter and Brock Jones worked walks to load the bases. Haas walked, scoring Kinney from third to cut the deficit, 4-2.

The Hot Rods tied the game in the bottom of the eighth off Dash reliever Johnny Ray. Simpson walked and Xavier Isaac reached on a fielder’s choice to put runners on first and third. Kinney doubled, moving Isaac to third and scoring Simpson to make it 4-3. Isaac was plated on a wild pitch from Dash reliever Zach Franklin, tying the game, 4-4.

In the bottom of the ninth, Jhon Diaz and Simpson worked walks and Taylor smacked a three-run homer to win the game for the Hot Rods, 7-4.

Jonny Cuevas (3-0) collected the win, striking out three, walking three, and allowing a hit over 2.2 scoreless frames. Franklin (0-2) picked up the loss, letting up three runs on one hit, two walks, and one strikeout over 1.0 inning.

Bowling Green has a day off tomorrow before traveling to Heritage Financial Field to begin a six-game series with the Hudson Valley Renegades. First pitch is set for 6:05 PM CT.
