Three's Company! Hot Rods Take Down Whitecaps 3-1

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods take the series from the West Michigan Whitecaps with a 3-1 win, and they'll look for the sweep tomorrow. The only run the Whitecaps scored was on a home run as Hot Rods pitching continues to be locked in.
The Hot Rods scored first in the second inning when 2B Trey Hair reached on an error, and then 3B Zach Rutherford brought him home with a double to put the Hot Rods up 1-0 over West Michigan.
Bowling Green added on another run in the third inning when 1B Jim Haley hit a ground-rule double, and then advanced to third on a single from CF Carl Chester . C Ronaldo Hernandez brought Haley home with a sac fly to center and the Hot Rods had a 2-0 lead.
LHP Resly Linares got the start for the Hot Rods and he threw five innings and did not allow a run on three hits and one walk while striking out six. RHP Jesus Rodriguez was strong for the Whitecaps as well, he threw seven innings and allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) while walking one and striking out six.
The Whitecaps got their first run of the series in the top of the eighth inning when RF Brady Policelli hit a solo home run into the Hot Rods bullpen to make the game 2-1.
Bowling Green responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the eighth when SS Taylor Walls got aboard with a single, advanced to second on an error, third on a sac bunt, and then scored on a wild pitch.
RHP Tyler Day picked up his first save of the season as he threw the last two inning and allowed just the one run on three hits and no walks, while striking out three.
The Hot Rods go for the sweep of the Whitecaps tomorrow at 6:35pm CST at Bowling Green Ballpark. The Hot Rods send RHP Tobias Myers (10-5, 3.75) to the mound, and he will be opposed by RHP Brad Bass (5-6, 4.52) for the Whitecaps.
