TONIGHT: The Mudcats continue an eight day, seven game road trip tonight in Myrtle Beach with game one of a three game series against the Pelicans at TicketReturn.com Field. Carolina is currently 2-2 in their second road trip of the season after most recently splitting a four game set in Fayetteville. Tonight's game is the first of 15 this season between the Mudcats and Pelicans.
ICYMI: Eddie Silva hit a two-run homer in the second, Payton Henry crushed a three-run blast with two outs in the fifth and Rob Henry hit a solo shot in the sixth as the Mudcats used a three homer day to defeat the Woodpeckers 6-5 in the finale of a four game series at SEGRA Stadium in Fayetteville on Sunday.
ABOUT THE LAST ONE: Carolina's three home runs on Sunday (Eddie Silva 2-run, Payton Henry 3-run, Rob Henry Solo) accounted for all of the runs scored in a 6-5 Mudcats' victory at Fayetteville. The Mudcats have now homered in seven straight games; with home runs accounting for all of Carolina's scoring three times during the streak (4/15 vs. FAY L, 6-1; 4/20 at FAY L, 3-2; 4/21 at FAY W, 6-5). Home runs have accounted for 19 of Carolina's 31 runs scored (61%) over their last seven games.
POWER SURGE: After beginning the season without a home run over their first three games, and with just five homers over their first 11, the Mudcats have totaled eight home runs over their last six consecutive games (all of which versus Fayetteville). The current power streak has included a fourth inning, no-hitter snapping solo homer from Joantgel Segovia on April 15, home runs from Ryan Aguilar and Mario Feliciano on April 16, an eighth inning, 4-4 tie breaking solo homer from Feliciano on April 17, big flies from Payton Henry and Tristen Lutz on April 18 and home runs from both Henry's, Payton and Rob in games one and two of yesterday's doubleheader respectively. Payton Henry's homer on Thursday was the first in SEGRA Stadium history, while Lutz's two-run shot on Thursday broke a 5-5 tie in the ninth.
STREAKING: Payton Henry has reached base safely in 15 consecutive games and is batting .315/.362/.556 with a .918 OPS, 4 2B, 3 HR and 15 RBI during the streak. Henry has also hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games and owns hit streaks of eight (4/7 - 4/14) and six (4/16 - Present) during his current hot stretch. Henry's on-base streak is current the 3rd longest streak in the CL.
WHERE THEY RANK: Joantgel Segovia is currently 3rd in the CL in OPS (.979) this season. Segovia is also tied for 5th in the CL in on-base (.438), 8th in slugging (.541), tied for 4th in walks (11) and tied for 5th in total bases (33)... ALL THAT POWER: Rob Henry has hit four home runs this season and is currently tied for 2nd in the CL in most home runs in 2019. Henry has now totaled 11 2-out RBI this season and 15 RBI overall. Henry is batting .333/.333/.533 (10-for-30) with a .867 OPS and 11 RBI when batting with two outs this season.
'CATS vs. BIRDS: Tonight's game between the Mudcats and Pelicans is the first of 15 total games between the two CL Southern Division rivals this season... The Mudcats went 12-9 against the Pelicans last year; including a 6-4 record at home and 6-5 record in Myrtle Beach...
