TONIGHT: The Mudcats continue a seven game road trip tonight with game two of a four game series versus the Salem Red Sox at Haley Toyota Field in Salem, VA. Tonight's game is also the 9th meeting of 11 total between the two teams this season. Salem's 11-2 victory last night evened the overall season series at 4-4 and gave the Red Sox a 1-0 lead in the current four game set.
ICYMI: The Mudcats hit into a franchise record six double plays and were held to just two runs despite totaling 11 hits while losing 11-2 in game one of a four game series versus the Red Sox at Haley Toyota Field in Salem on Friday night.
ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Mudcats hit into a franchise record six (6) double plays in last night's game in Salem (Dallas Carroll: 5-4-3; Devin Hairston [3]: 6-4-3, 5-4-3, 5-4-3; Trever Morrison: 3u-3-6; Rob Henry 6-4-3). The previous record was five (5) double plays (including one triple play) hit into and was set on July 1, 2008 in Jacksonville (One Triple Play: 6-4; DP: 6-4-3, 5-3, 7-5, 5-3 w/1-4 on appeal to 2B).

INSERT HUMMEL:Cooper Hummel is hitting .301/.419/.495 with a .915 OPS (31 H, 17 R, 14 2B, 2 HR, 16 RBI) and a Carolina League leading 14 doubles since replacing an injured Tucker Neuhaus in the fourth inning of a home game versus the Keys on July 6. Hummel ended up going 1-for-2 with a two-run home run (eventual game winner in the seventh) in that same game and has not missed a start since (31 consecutive games).

Carolina's difference in strikeouts over hits is currently tied for the 4th largest in MiLB (tied with Low-A Wisconsin).
