The staff at MiLB.com has recently begun sharing a selection of motion pictures, television shows, documentaries and books that feature appearances by (or tributes to) various Minor League Baseball teams over the years.

The most recent entry "Ten times the Minors guested on television" - authored by writer Joe Bloss - covered television in particular and included episodes from shows like MASH, Quantum Leap, and The Simpsons. The article is a fun read, but it does leave out one example that specifically applies to the Mudcats.

In 2011, the popular show Bones introduced a fun new character that, according to the show’s description, hailed from North Carolina. That new character was intern "Finn Abernathy" and was played by actor Luke Kleintank. "Finn" was always depicted on screen with one very noticeable attribute in that he almost always wore a baseball cap. That cap, as pointed out constantly on social media over the years, was indeed a black and red Carolina Mudcats hat.

According to IMDB, "Finn" appeared in eight episodes overall, beginning with "The Hot Dog in the Competition" on November 10, 2011. He also appeared in "The Bump in the Road" (April 2012), "The Don't in the Do" (April 2012), "The Partners in the Divorce" (September 2012), "The Patriot in Purgatory" (November 2012), "The Friend in Need" (February 2013), "The Maiden in the Mushrooms" (April 2013) and "The Turn in the Urn" (March 2014).

Similar Mudcats hats are currently available at shopmudcats.com.
