CORPUS CHRISTI - A late push by the Frisco RoughRiders gave them a 3-2 win over the Hooks Saturday night at Whataburger Field.

In what was a pitcher's duel between the Hooks' Joe Record and Frisco's A.J. Alexy, the home side carried a narrow 2-0 lead into the seventh. Record allowed an RBI single to Matt Whatley and proceeded to load the bases with two outs.

At a career-high 6.2 innings and 96 pitches, Record was pulled for righty Michael Horrell to get out of the jam. But Bubba Thompson lofted a single to left field that scored the tying and go-ahead runs.

Record allowed five hits, two walks and three walks while striking out five.

He was matched by Alexy, who surrendered just one hit and one run over 5.0 frames. Ronny Henriquez (W, 3-2) allowed one run over 4.0 innings of relief.

The Hooks will look to split the series Sunday with a 5:05 pm. first pitch. Left-hander Jonathan Bermudez is scheduled to get the start.
