CORPUS CHRISTI - The Hooks let a late lead slip away Thursday night as Amarillo rallied for five runs over the eighth and ninth innings to clip Corpus Christi, 7-5, before 4,084 fans at Whataburger Field.

The difference in the back-and fourth affair was a pair of errors by the Hooks which lead to three unearned markers.

Spencer Arrighetti made the start for CC and spread five hits and one walk over five innings. Arrighetti struck out seven, with one of the two runs against coming via a home run on his third pitch of the day.

Luis Aviles Jr. got one of those runs back with a 413-foot home run to left field in the second.

Joey Loperfido clubbed a two-run long ball in the sixth to make it a 3-2 Hooks lead. Aviles, 2-for-2 while reaching base three times on the day, followed with a sacrifice fly for a two-run edge.

Following a three-run home run by Cameron Duzenack in the Amarillo eighth, the Hooks managed to level the score at five in their half thanks to a run-scoring groundout by J.C. Correa. An automatic double by Scott Schreiber into the Amarillo bullpen proved to be the key swing in the inning.

Jacob DeLabio accounted for two shutout frames from the Hooks pen.
