SeaWolves Drop Season Finale to Ducks

The SeaWolves dropped their final game of the 2018 season on Monday afternoon at UPMC Park, 7-4, to the Akron RubberDucks.
Akron took the lead in the top of the first inning against Erie starter Matt Manning. Ernie Clement and Sam Haggerty led off with consecutive singles to put runners on the corners. Andrew Calica hit into a double play, scoring Clement for a 1-0 lead.
The Ducks extended the lead in the second. They loaded the bases on three walks to Ka'ai Tom, Mark Mathias and Jonathan Laureano. Tom scored on a passed ball for a 2-0 lead.
The SeaWolves tied the game in the bottom of the third against reliever David Speer. Danny Woodrow and Will Maddox started the frame with back-to-back singles. Isaac Paredes singled home Woodrow and Josh Lester brought home Maddox on a fielder's choice.
Erie took the lead in the home half of the fourth against reliever Nick Pasquale. Woodrow walked with two outs and Maddox singled to put runners on the corners. Woodrow stole home to give Erie a 3-2 advantage.
The lead did not last long as the RubberDucks went back ahead in the top of the fifth. Elvis Perez and Clement started with back-to-back doubles to tie the game at 3-3. Calica singled home Clement for a 5-4 lead. Mathias later doubled home two for a 6-3 Ducks lead.
Erie closed the gap in the bottom of the fifth when Lester clobbered his team-leading 21st home run to make it 6-4. The 'Wolves would get no closer.
Akron added one in the seventh on a Nellie Rodríguez solo home run to go ahead 7-4.
Reliever Pasquale (3-3) earned the win for the RubberDucks.
Manning (0-1) took the loss for the SeaWolves allowing six runs, five earned, on eight hits with three walks and five strikeouts in 4.2 innings.
