Slania earns the award for his brilliant effort during Saturday night's doubleheader sweep over Akron. The Notre Dame product tossed a complete game, seven-inning shutout in picking up his fourth win of the year for Richmond. It was the first complete game of Slania's career as he was in control throughout the night, allowing just two hits while striking out eight in the victory. He walked one and only needed 84 pitches to complete the contest. u1:p
Slania was the Flying Squirrels Opening Day starter this season and quickly earned a promotion to Triple-A Sacramento. He made 12 starts for the River Cats prior to returning to Richmond on June 17. On June 30, Slania was called up to San Francisco directly from Richmond. He made his MLB debut with the Giants, tossing a scoreless inning against Pittsburgh.
Dan, who has a record of 4-3 with a 3.54 ERA in 11 starts with Richmond this season, was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the fifth round of the 2013 draft out of the University of Notre Dame, where he made 78 appearances over three seasons and had a 1.71 ERA while striking out 100 batters in 121 innings.

The Flying Squirrels begin their final road trip of the season tonight in Erie, Pennsylvania. Richmond will wrap up the trip in Trenton, New Jersey on Sunday, August 27, before opening up the last homestand of the season beginning Monday, August 28.
