FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Dunedin Blue Jays earned a pair of one-run wins in sweeping a doubleheader from the Fort Myers Miracle Thursday at Hammond Stadium. The Blue Jays won game one, 2-1, before winning the nightcap, 1-0.
Dunedin scored the only run of game two on a Kevin Smith RBI single. Smith's single came one play after Yeltsin Gudino was thrown out trying to score by Alex Kirilloff.
Charlie Barnes' streak ended in the seventh inning after Ryan Mason allowed an inherited runner to score. Barnes (3-5) scattered six hits in 6.1 innings of work. He walked three and struck out three.
Mason tossed 0.2 innings out of the Miracle bullpen.
Making a spot start, Connor Eller pitched four scoreless innings. He allowed three hits in taking a no decision.
Andy Ravel (one inning) and Jake Fishman (two innings) preserved the shutout. Fishman (2-0) earned his second win of the year by retiring all six batters he faced.
A Kacy Clemens two-run shot in the second inning proved to be the difference in game one. Travis Blankenhorn clubbed his eighth home run in the loss.
In a rehab start, Ervin Santana (0-2) suffered his second loss of the year after allowing two runs on three hits. Adam Bray tossed three scoreless innings.
Patrick Murphy (6-4) went the distance for the Blue Jays. He yielded just three hits.
