Newly-branded Twins affiliate to play 120-game schedule from May 4-September 19

FORT MYERS, Fla. – After 18 months without baseball, the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels are excited to announce their 2021 season schedule.

The 2021 season will consist of 120 games, including 60 home games at Hammond Stadium. The Mussels’ home opener is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11 against the Clearwater Threshers (PHI).

After significant re-structuring throughout professional baseball, the Mighty Mussels will now compete in the Low-A Southeast region. The new league consists of 10 teams, all of which are previous members of the Florida State League.

The 2021 schedule will feature six-game series running from Tuesday through Sunday. The entire league will observe an off day each Monday. The change is aimed at reducing both travel and virus risk.

“We could not be more excited to see the schedule for the Inaugural season of Mighty Mussels Baseball,” stated Mussels Owner Andy Kaufmann. “After a year off, we can’t wait to see the great fans of Southwest Florida back at Hammond Stadium to enjoy great baseball and affordable, family fun for everyone. We want the first season of the Mussels to be a memorable one so stay tuned for the announcement of our promotional schedule which will have lots of excitement all summer long!”

Fort Myers will play 24 games against its closest geographical opponent (Bradenton Marauders, PIT) and 12 games against the remaining eight teams in the league.

Fort Myers will begin the season on the road on May 4 in Bradenton, and conclude the season at home on Sunday, September 19 against the Tampa Tarpons (NYY).

The Mighty Mussels will be home on both Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4 against the St. Lucie Mets (NYM) for Independence Day Weekend. Game times for those games and the entire schedule will be announced at a later date.
