One of the largest reading programs in professional sports, Wild About Reading utilizes baseball to promote reading in the classroom. Each student at participating schools that reads 10 books in five weeks earns two free tickets to a 2025 Grizzlies game at Chukchansi Park.

The program, now in its 22nd year, reaches thousands of students in Fresno, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, and Merced counties every year and has served well over 1 million students since its inception. Designed to reinforce the importance and excitement of reading, Wild About Reading has become an activity the students look forward to year after year!

Frequently Asked Questions

Wild About Reading is an educational program where the Fresno Grizzlies challenge students to read 10 books in 5 weeks to receive 2 free tickets to a Grizzlies game. Students will receive a bookmark that allows them to track their reading progress. Schools can also choose to sign up for an in-person, educational assembly where Parker T. Bear and his friends will visit and get students excited about reading!

Students may log their reading progress using the bookmark that was provided to their teachers by the Fresno Grizzlies.

Once a student completes the challenge, they can bring their filled-out bookmark to the Chukchansi Park ticket office and exchange it for free Grizzlies tickets. This can be done the day of the selected game or at a prior date.

If a student is unable to attend the game date that is printed on their bookmark, it can also be redeemed for any Grizzlies’ Sunday home game.

My team and I are thrilled that you are reading the 2025 edition of our Farm Grown Magazine. In this magazine there are fun games, coloring pages, videos, and MORE! Make sure to ask your parents to print this out at home or go to your local library so that you can do all of the activities.

As always, this year’s Wild About Reading program features our annual reading challenge! Eddie the Owl can’t wait to hear about all the fun books you will read and we both know you will be up to the challenge. All you have to do is read 10 books in 5 weeks to receive two FREE tickets to a Grizzlies game! That means that you will get to come hang out with me at Chukchansi Park!
