Rhino Mode Activated: Jackson Earns California League Player of the Week

RHINO MODE ACTIVATED: JACKSON NAMED CALIFORNIA LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

FRESNO, Calif. – Minor League Baseball announced Monday that catcher Daniel Jackson has been named the California League Player of the Week for his performance during the week of August 18-23.

Over the six games against the Stockton Ports , Jackson hit .571 with a .679 on-base percentage and a .952 slugging percentage, a 1.631 OPS. He went 12-for-21 with two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI and 11 runs scored, while drawing seven walks against only two strikeouts.

Jackson, the Colorado Rockies' 37th overall pick in the 2026 draft, made his professional debut with Fresno on August 11 against San Jose and needed just three plate appearances to record his first professional hit, a no-doubt home run.

In his first week at home in Fresno, Jackson delighted the home crowd at Chukchansi Park and helping the Grizzlies earn a series victory.

Jackson opened the series with a two-hit, three-run game in Fresno’s first win of the week on Wednesday, then turned in his best performance of the week on Thursday night, going 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBI. He added a home run and an RBI on Saturday before closing the series in Sunday night’s extra-inning thriller with a 4-for-6 day that included a double, scoring the game tying run, and three RBI.

Since his debut, Jackson is hitting .385 with three home runs, nine RBI and a 1.212 OPS over his first 11 professional games. Splitting time between catcher and designated hitter, he has reached base safely in all but two of his appearances with Fresno.

Jackson arrived in Fresno as one of the most decorated players in this year's draft class. This spring at Georgia, he won the Golden Spikes Award as the top player in college baseball and the Buster Posey Award as the nation's top catcher, while posting a 32-home run, 26-stolen base season and winning the SEC's triple crown.

The Grizzlies are currently tied for the final playoff spot with just 12 games remaining and hold the head-to-head tiebreaker with their series victory over Stockton, with Jackson emerging as one of several recent additions helping fuel Fresno's playoff push down the stretch.
