Hartford, Conn - Brenton Doyle blasted his tenth home run of the season, and Jimmy Herron tallied two-hits to extend his hit streak to seven games, but the Binghamton Rumble Ponies beat the Hartford Yard Goats 11-3 in front of a sellout crowd Saturday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park. Binghamton jumped out to an early lead on homers by Zach Ashford and Brett Baty and held on to win its second game in five tries against Hartford. The Yard Goats look to win the series against the Rumble Ponies tomorrow night.

Binghamton opened the scoring in the top of the third inning when Ashford belted a two-run homer off Hartford's starter Noah Davis. The Yard Goats responded in the bottom of the frame on Jimmy Herron's two-out RBI single off Rumble Ponies starter Mitch Ragan, scoring Isaac Collins to make the score 2-1.

The Rumble Ponies added five runs to their lead in the top of the fourth inning. Ashford doubled to right to score one run and Brandon McIlwain added another on an RBI fielder's choice. Brett Baty launched a three-run shot later in the inning putting Binghamton up 7-1. Hartford got another run back in the bottom of the inning on a Kyle Datres RBI double, scoring Aaron Schunk to cut the Rumble Ponies lead to 7-2. After Binghamton scored three runs in the fifth, Yard Goats outfielder Brenton Doyle launched a solo shot to left-center field in the sixth, his tenth of the season, to trim Binghamton's lead to 10-3.

The Yard Goats wrap up their homestand against the Mets affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Sunday night at 6:05. RHP Karl Kauffmann will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Justin Lasko will start for the Rumble Ponies. The game will be broadcast on Newsradio 1410 WPOP.
