Hartford, CT- The Richmond Flying Squirrels scored five runs in the seventh inning to come from behind to beat the Hartford Yard Goats 9-6 on Sunday afternoon in front of 7,092 fans, the 44th sellout at Dunkin’ Park. The Yard Goats had a 6-4 lead after Drew Romo hit a go-head two-run homer earlier, but the Flying Squirrels built a five-run frame to win the series. Jordan Beck had a pair of RBI doubles and scored a run. The Yard Goats begin a seven-game series against the New York Mets affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Tuesday evening at 7:10 PM.

The two teams exchanged runs in the first inning and after falling behind 1-0, Jordan Beck delivered an RBI double, scoring Niko Decolati to tie the game at 1-1.

The Yard Goats scored three runs in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead. Jordan Beck cracked an RBI double to left field and Decolati scored making it 2-1 Hartford. Later in the inning, Starlin Thompson scored on a wild pitch and Jordan Beck came home on the same play on a throwing error to make it 4-1 Yard Goats.

Richmond chipped away and got a run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly and tied the game with two runs in the fifth inning on an RBI double by Victor Bericoto and single by Logan Wyatt to make it 4-4.

The Yard Goats took a 6-4 lead on Drew Romo’s 10th home run of the season, a two-run shot into the right field porch seats in the fifth inning, scoring Grant Lavigne.

However, the Flying Squirrels rallied for five runs in the seventh inning to take the lead. With runners at first and second after a hit batsman and walk, Ismael Munguia singled home Jimmy Glowenke to make it 6-5. Yoshi Tsutsugo followed with the game-tying RBI single, scoring Brandon Martorano. Later in the inning, Brady Whalen cracked a two-run single, scoring Will Wilson and Tsutsugo to make it 8-6 Richmond. Victor Bericoto added an RBI hit to make it 9-6.

The Yard Goats continue a 13-game homestand on Tuesday (7:10 PM), and play the first of a seven-game series against the New York Mets affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. RHP Connor Van Scoyoc will start for the Yard Goats. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and on the iheart radio app.
