HARTFORD- Dillon Thomas' two-run home run into the upper deck in right-center capped a three-run ninth inning rally and lifted the Hartford Yard Goats to a dramatic 3-1 victory Friday night, before a sellout crowd of 6,655 at Dunkin' Donuts Park. Thomas' second home run of the season sent a surge through the second largest crowd ever at the new ballpark, and propelled his teammates into a delirious state, as he was greeted with an ice bucket shower at home plate.

Hartford starter Jack Wynkoop pitched eight scoreless innings, allowed three hits and one walk, while striking out four men. He extended his scoreless inning streak to 15 innings. However, it appeared Mike Gerber might do the Goats in for a second straight night. The left-handed hitter broke a scoreless, ninth inning tie with an opposite field two-out home run.
Gerber's homer came one night after his four-hit game, which included two home runs against the Goats. But it set the stage for the Hartford ninth inning comeback.
Ashley Graeter reached second on a two base error by the right-fielder to open the frame. Ryan McMahon then tied the contest with a single, although he was thrown out at second base. Drew Weeks then reached on an error by the first baseman, setting the stage for the Thomas home run, and the most exciting moment in the history of the new ballpark.
Game three of the series is Saturday night at 6:05. RH Konner Wade will pitch for the Yard Goats against LH Tyler Alexander for Erie. The game can be heard on 1410AM WPOP and on newsradio1410.iheart.com.
