Jared Thomas Leads Yard Goats to Walk-Off Win

Hartford, CT - The Hartford Yard Goats defeated the Detroit Tigers affiliate, the Erie SeaWolves, 4-3 in front of 6,781 fans on Wednesday night at Dunkin' Park. After building a 3-0 lead through seven innings, Hartford surrendered three runs over the final two innings before Jared Thomas delivered a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth to secure the victory. Dyan Jorge and Andy Perez each recorded two hits and drove in a run, while GJ Hill scored twice and reached base three times. Yard Goats starter Konnor Eaton tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out six. Yard Goats bullpen had a combined 14 strikeouts in the win.

Hartford broke through in the third inning when GJ Hill lined a single and stole second base before advancing to third. Dyan Jorge followed with an RBI single to right field, scoring Hill and giving the Yard Goats a 1-0 lead.

Eaton kept the SeaWolves off the scoreboard through five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out six batters.

The Yard Goats added to their lead in the sixth inning. Jorge drew a walk before Andy Perez lined an RBI triple into right field, scoring Jorge to extend Hartford's advantage to 2-0.

Hartford added another run in the seventh. Jorge ripped a double into left field before Perez followed with a single to left, bringing Jorge home and giving the Yard Goats a 3-0 lead.

Erie broke through in the eighth inning when Peyton Graham hit a solo home run to left-center field, cutting Hartford's lead to 3-1. Hartford reliever Carlos Torres responded by striking out the next three batters to keep the Yard Goats in front.

The SeaWolves tied the game in the ninth inning when Luke Shliger hit a two-run home run to right-center field, bringing home the tying run and making it 3-3.

Hartford answered immediately in the bottom of the ninth. Hill led off with a double that reached the right-field upper deck, putting the winning run in scoring position. Jared Thomas, making his return to Hartford, followed with a walk-off hit to bring Hill home and give the Yard Goats a 4-3 victory.
