Hartford, CT- Yard Goats infielder Elehuris Montero cracked a game winning single with two-outs in the ninth inning leading Hartford past Binghamton 6-5 on Thursday night at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford. Montero’s walk-off hit down the left field line scored Jose Gomez from second base, helping the Yard Goats defeat the Rumble Ponies for the second time in three games. Montero had three hits, including a two-run homer, and drove in three runs. Outfielder Casey Golden had a pair of hits and 3RBI, and starter Ryan Feltner turned in a quality start for Hartford.

The Rumble Ponies scored the first run of the game in the first inning on a two-out solo home run by Mark Vientos off Hartford starting pitcher Ryan Feltner. Vientos’ league-leading 19th homer landed in the right field porch seats, giving Binghamton a 1-0 lead.

The Yard Goats took a 2-1 lead in the third inning as the Yard Goats rallied with three straight hits off Binghamton starter Dustin Beggs. Jose Gomez got things going with a one-out single, Jameson Hannah followed with a hit, and Casey Golden highlighted the frame with a two-run double as he lined a shot to center field, scoring Gomez and Hannah and giving Hartford a 2-1 lead.

Binghamton tied the game in the top of the fifth inning on Nick Meyer’s solo home run to make it 2-2. However, the Yard Goats scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-2 lead. Matt McLaughin led off the inning with a double and was driven in on a two-out single by Casey Golden, giving Hartford a 3-2 lead. Elehuris followed with his team-leading 19th home run which sailed into the left field seats, giving Hartford a 5-2 lead.

The Rumble Ponies battled back and tied the game with runs in the fifth and sixth innings, and Carlos Rincon’s two-run homer in the ninth made it 5-5. But, the Yard Goats won the game in their final at bat. Jose Gomez reached on a throwing error and Jameson Hannah walked putting runners at first and second base. Montero then ripped a single down the left field line scoring Gomez to win the game.

The Yard Goats continue their six-game series against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Friday evening at 7:05 PM at Dunkin’ Donuts Park.
