Hartford, CT- The Bowie Baysox bats woke up early against the Hartford Yard Goats on Friday night as the Baysox won 13-8 at Dunkin Park. Benny Montgomery continued his hot streak with three RBI. Despite a seven-run deficit heading into the bottom of the fifth inning the Yard Goats would score seven of their eight runs in the final four innings of play. The Yard Goats were handed their first loss after beginning the season at 3-0.

The Baysox got off to a quick start with six runs in the first inning. Mason Albright pitched two-thirds of an inning walking three consecutive batters before T.T. Bowens hit a bases clearing double. Anthony Servideo and Connor Pavolony each added RBI singles in the inning.

The Yard Goats got on the board in the second inning as Zac Veen led off the frame with a double. After a Braxton Fulford groundout and a Ryan Ritter strikeout, Zach Kokoska singled into center field to drive in Veen.

The Yard Goats would cut deeper into the Baysox lead in the fifth inning as a Ritter single followed by an Adael Amador walk and Sterlin Thompson single loaded the bases for Benny Montgomery who drove the ball to deep left field for a three run double. Yanquiel Fernandez then singled into right to score Montgomery and make it a 8-5 game.

The Baysox responded to the Yard Goats comeback attempt with four runs in the top of the sixth inning and went ahead 12-5.

The bottom of the sixth inning saw the Yard Goat’s strike back again. A Ryan Ritter single, Kokoska walk, and an Amador single set up a Sterlin Thompson two run double to make it 12-7.

After a Montgomery strikeout and Fernandez walk, Warming Bernabel hit into a fielder’s choice to score Amador from third base.

The Baysox would add an insurance run in the seventh inning with a solo home run from Pavolony.
